Want to see the series standings? Just click the button above. We will update them after each race. Contact us for any corrections. We try and combine all your times for multiple races (under your name) but we may (and will) miss some. So if you see your name listed twice, simply email us and we will correct it. The scoring is simple. The age groups for the GRS series are 0-19*, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ You will earn age group points in these age groups for each race you participate. The points are
- 1st – 50 points
- 2nd – 45 points
- 3rd – 40 points
- 4th – 35 points
- 5th – 30 points
- 6th – 25 points
- 7th – 20 points
- 8th – 15 points
- 9th – 10 points
- 10th – 5 points
- participation – 30 points
Please note the age groups (at each race) are defined by that race and may not follow the GRS age groups. For example Beerrun may have age groups 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and give their awards based on their age groups. However, the GRS ignores the age groups defined by each race and you are earning GRS points in the GRS age groups 0-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ We have kept the minimum # of races at 5. You can win your age group by participating in 5 GRS events. We will score your best 7. Confused? …don’t be. Here is the scoop. To win an award you must run 5. You can run all the races but we will score your best 7.
- Run 4 races… sorry out of luck. Can’t win an award
- Run 5 races… you can win an award. We will score all 5 races
- Run 6 races… you can win an award. We will score all 6 races
- Run 7 races… you can win an award. We will score all 7 races
- Run 8 races… you can win an award. We will score your top 7 races
- Run all the races… Congrats you are a monster. We will still only score your top 7 races.
You are competing for age group points/awards but it gets even better. The overall points are awarded the same as the age group points 50pts for 1st overall, 45pts for 2nd overall, etc, etc. Note, your OVERALL POINTS and your AGE GROUP POINTS will not be the same. You are accumulating OVERALL POINTS based on your overall finish position. You are accumulating AGE GROUP POINTS based on your age group finish position… make sense? Age-Up Rule. Your age group is defined for ALL races in the GRS based on your age as of the end of the year. That means that the age group you will be competing in is your age as of the last day of the year. Remember this when you look at race results from the GRS races. Someone may be in the 30-34 age group at a specific race but for GRS they may be in 35-39 age group (thus taking away your valuable points… darn that rule!) Tie Breaker. In the case of a tie the highest average points per-event will be used to break the tie. For example, if one runner has 100 points and has participated in 5 races (20pts per race average) and another runner has 100 points but has participated in 7 races (14 pts per race average) the runner with the highest average will be declared the winner. If two runners have the same number of points and the same average, a head-to-head tie breaker will be used to declare the winner (whoever won the most head to head races). If each runner is still tied then the LAST race in the year in which BOTH runners participated will be used to decide the head-to-head tie breaker. For example if both runners participate in the Greensboro Gobbler the runner winning the head to head competition will be declared the winner. If two runner are tied and did not complete head to head against each other, then the runner who finished the latest race in the calendar will be the winner.
